A Reflection of Sorts

Hi guys!

I can’t believe it’s the last week of the semester already! These three or so months have flown by, and next semester is my last one. Scary stuff. I’ve really enjoyed getting to blog for you all this semester, and I really hope I’ve been a good resource for you all throughout the past few weeks.

For my final blog, I’d like to think back on the many experiences and adventures I’ve had during my time as a Penn State student. It’s be a whirlwind three years, but I can honestly say that enrolling in Penn State was and will continue to be one of the best decisions I’ve made throughout my life.

It hasn’t always been easy. I wasn’t the most outgoing person in high school so coming into a campus of nearly 40,000 other students was definitely daunting, but I found my niche. And don’t worry, you will too. The cliché of “it’s easy to make a big school feel small, but you can’t make a small school feel big” is absolutely true. You will find your people, those people will become a second family to you, and soon you’ll start to forget that there was ever a time that they weren’t in your life. Don’t be afraid; it all works out in the end.

If I could give you one piece of advice going into college, it would be not to write off anything or anyone. College is a fresh start for everyone, so try not to hold on to preconceived notions of yourself and people you may know from high school. People will change in college, and while it might not always be for the best, you never know who you may find yourself friends with. Use this blank slate to your advantage. If you want to try something new, do it.

At the same time, make sure to stay true to who you are. Your first obligation is to yourself, so don’t try to let anyone tell you who you should be or what you should do.

As I sit here studying for my second-to-last finals week, I’m particularly jealous of everyone on the cusp of the wonderful adventure that is college. I wouldn’t trade my experience at Penn State for anything else, and I hope you find the love I have no matter where you end up going, though of course I’d always recommend Penn State first.

We are!
